I was there, and it was an enjoyable concert.

I disagree with the reviewer about the audibility of the hurdy-gurdy - it may 
be 
that he didn't know quite what to listen for.  I thought the balance was pretty 
good, although a solo instrument probably should be a little more prominent.

What the reviewer doesn't discuss is the dialog between Jim Kendros (the gurdy 
player) and Lawrence Rapchak (conductor) where they explained what they were 
really doing is using the hurdy-gurdy and baroque organ to simulate the sound 
of 
the lira organizzata, the composer's intended featured instrument.

BTW, for those that are interested, the hurdy-gurdies played (there were 2) 
were 
by George Leverett at Altarwind.
