I apologize if everyone already knows this, but i just stumbled across this
yesterday.
When I first ventured into Hurdy gurdys and french music, music was hard to
find. Dragonfly music had 2 vital books, the Massif Central tune book no. 1
and the Massif Central tune book no.2. Unfortunately these have been out of
print since the end of the last century.
I noticed yesterday that Dave Mallinson music has 'sort of' reprinted them in
one volume called Bal Folk. Unfortunately most of the modern stuff wasnt
printed due to copywrite issues, but it is still over 200 tunes. www.mally.com
Look under tunebooks by genre, the (duh ) french.
>From the sample page it looks like it is mainly in C/G tuning.
Mally also has Mike Gilpin's Dansons la Morvandelle.
Another out of print book from the Dragonfly library that has been
reprinted is the 'Encyclopedia Blowzabellica'. This you can find at
www.blowzabella.com look under albums, their second book 'new tunes for
dancing' is also there.
hope this is of use to any tune junkies out there
Derek
