Hi Mitch It depends what varnish is on there. I find that window cleaning fluid is great for most finishes but just try a bit inside the pegbox first to be sure. Good old soap and a warm damp cloth is good for all but French polished finishes. A lot of the grunge is caused by rosin powder accumulating which can be minimised by using " Kaplan Artcraft" rosin which doesn't powder .
