Hello According to the video, he started as a cabinet maker, his first gurdy was built in 1972, that's the one he shows first with no ebony, and he compares it to one he built 50 years later. He mentions he got interested in the hurdy gurdy from a cabinet maker point of view, and became a musician as a result, but mostly was an accordionist, playing in folk balls in his region.
if you do a search for him on google, it appears this gentleman passed away last month at age 90. I suspect the video was a hommage to him, although it is not stated.
