For anyone in North America (or pretty much anywhere I imagine) who insists on Savarez gut strings but has been frustrated trying to buy them, I have found a great source in the Netherlands. It's a shop called Bert Boon Violins, and their website is _www.carbonbow.com_ (http://www.carbonbow.com) . Here's the link to the Savarez gut strings on the site: _http://www.carbonbow.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=39_54&zenid=11d55e fec11acbe0962e6c7ceb27058f_ (http://www.carbonbow.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=39_54&zenid=11d55efec11acbe0962e6c7ceb27058f) What is really nice about ordering from their shop is that their prices are reasonable and their website is easy to use (yes, there is paypal, and yes it's in English, and yes, the US is actually provided as a valid shipping destination option) -- but best of all, their shipping charges are next to nothing. I paid 3.50 Euros for Bert Boon to ship a recent purchase of 5 strings to me. From my usual French sources, the shipping would have been 30 Euros or worse, which is absurd. Turnaround time on the order was about a week and a half, including the shipping. I am so glad to have found these folks!! Mitch Gordon Guerneville, California, US
