Dear all,
A question from a colleague:

What do you think the typical gurdy played in Normandy in the mid-19th century
would be like: six strings, trompette, lute or guitar-body?

Does anyone have some information on concrete specifics about this? I imagine
the that there were both, given the popularity of lute backs at the time, but
also given the possibility that there were still some 18c guitar body
instruments hanging around. I don't have a copy of Brocker here but I imagine
there is info in there that would clarify this.

Thanks al,
Vlad
