Greetings Red Hat Partners,

We are pleased to announce the availability of an updated Red Hat Hardware Certification Policy Guide (6.0-1.0-10) for official hardware certification purposes with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and 6.

Please note that the updated Red Hat Hardware Certification Policy Guide (6.0-1.0-10) *is* an official update to the policy guide and supersedes all previous policy guides. The updated Policy Guide will be applied to new hardware certifications starting with the General Availability (GA) release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3.

The Red Hat Hardware Certification Policy Guide RC (6.0-1.0-10) is available at the following locations:

https://hardware.redhat.com/doc

http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Hardware_Certification/1/html-single/Policy_Guide/index.html

Highlights of the updated Hardware Certification Policy Guide (6.0-1.0-10) include:

* The same content as the Hardware Certification Policy Guide RC (6.0-1.0-9) with the removal of the draft watermark. The Policy Guide RC pdf will be removed two weeks from this announcement to avoid confusion.

* Vendors may now open their own pass-through requests for review.

* Optionally integrated components are no longer mandatory but will follow the CTO policies. Integrated Graphics Displays (eg. laptop screens) will continue to use the integrated policies.

* Integrated Graphics Display policy is clarified to explain that each display is required to be tested but not in combination with every video controller.

* Optical Disc Drive testing is reduced to only require one test of the highest offered media type available with each storage controller.

* Wireless network interfaces now require the wlan test in addition to network testing. The wlan test was added in v7-1.3 and captures additional wifi connection information to increase review efficiency and accuracy.

* Infiniband interfaces now require the infiniband test in addition to network and/or storage testing. The infiniband test was added in v7-1.5 and captures additional infiniband connection information to increase review efficiency and accuracy.

* A "How to provide feedback" section is added.

* Red Hat product support is clarified as not included in the Red Hat Hardware Certification program.

* Other minor bug/typo fixes outlined in the change log below.

If you encounter any problems or have any comments regarding the Red Hat Hardware Certification Policy Guide, please file bugs against the 'Red Hat Hardware Certification Program' product in Red Hat Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.redhat.com).
