Correct -- we hadn't used $hwloc_c_vendor anywhere else in the 1.3 configury.
Are you sure? It looks like my grep turned up several reads, mostly
related to the visibility CFLAGS.
Perhaps that was just dead code from a backport?
Anyway, it looks suspicious to me.
