I had the same problem with another sound module of mine that would always
respond to all 16 MIDI channels. I solved my problem by ordering the MIDI
Router from MIDI Solutions. You should be able to get one for a little over
$100 at synthony.com. The MIDI Router is a little box about the size of a
deck of cards. It has one MIDI in and two MIDI outs, and it runs of phantom
power, so you don't need batteries of a power adapter. Using Sysex, you can
program the MIDI router with a whole bunch of different MIDI filters.
(There's a handy little program for the PC at Midi Solutions web site that
makes it real easy to program the router.) I run the MIDI out of my RM1X
into my MIDI Router, and then I filter the signal so that channels 5-16 are
blocked on output #1, and channels 1-4 are blocked on output #2. If you can
afford the MIDI Router, it should solve your problem. Later.
