Hi guys

Iv'e just joined the list, i would search through the maillist but don't know how to, so i'll just ask my question

I'd like to run on hx4700 certain unix software that was designed to "talk" to external hardware (on-board car computer) through the old style 9pin serial port.
I have seen a special cable that i can buy on ebay that will interface the PDA's propriatary connection (that craddle uses) to this 9pin serial connection. I was wondering whether or not i can use that cable to interface to the hardware through, and what are the chances that the whole setup will work just like it would on a regular desktop/laptop running linux with the hardware connected through the 9pin serial port? Of course the software was not designed to run on the PDA, but if i can get a command line version of the software, do you think it'd be possible? (the software basically just querries the state of the hardware through the serial port and displays data retrieved)

also, did anyone get any of the GPS software to work on these PDA-specific linux distros? I imagine one needs something like Wine to run something like iGuidance. Does Wine run on the linux powered hx4700, or is it too much to ask?
Maybe there is a opensource GPS software that i never heard of that is runnable on a linux PDA?

Thank you
Alex
