No - I've never used a screen protector and have relied on the flimsy
plastic cover to keep the unit free of dust.

I haven't heard of any either, so that's why I'm not sure if it's an OS
thing or a hardware problem.  Sometimes Windows can be quite sluggish,
for no reason: it's as if it's doing something in the background and
this slows the touchscreen's response.  I was expecting this
sluggishness to go away when Linux is running, but it doesn't, and this
is in spite of HP replacing the motherboard.

Other factors that I am considering: touchscreen might be slow if the
Hx4700 is cold (it can get chilly in the room where I keep it).
