I have been able to follow the info in the Fedora forum posting to disable nvidia and only use the Intel card, with a significant drop in power consumption with the NVidia card turned off (thanks especially to docdrow for spelling that out so clearly):

But it appears everyone is now stuck trying to actually _use_ the Nvidia card. http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=248837&highlight=alienware&page=5 Is this still the case for everyone? Is there still is not any way to enable the Nvidia to actually be used yet? Is there a way to enable 3d support for the Intel video card at least?
