I found this ppa with pre compiled 2.6.38 for ubuntu, i didnt tried yet, but i
think that could work in maverick:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.38.3-natty/
Try do a dpkg -i and lets see what happens. ^^
