Thanks for your informations! I can't reproduce the jack problem here, 
maybe i'm going to install a slackware vmware machine later this week. 
'Heard a lot
about slackware, but never tried it.

The garbled instrument editor should be fixed with rev797 , at least i 
hope so. I suppose you've installed an older svn version of hydrogen 
before?
