i just compiled and test your branch. great:-).
in my local svn directory i have no problem to merge ( svn merge -r 728:802
http://svn.assembla.com/svn/hydrogen/trunk ) rev 802 from trunk.
so imo, it's a good idea to hold this branch up to date.

do you think we can do a collaboration with note off messages implementation.
i have implement a working midi note_of playback / record feature into the 
sample_fun
branch. think it's wold be great if something from this stuff will admitted 
into trunk
that both implementations do intertwine.
