While the current UI is beautiful, the way you are using Qt right now is highly inflexible (it's not the way it is meant to be used). Basic functionality has been dubbed by own, worse widgets, everything is a custom production. Making changes in the user interface will likely break it. You will have a hard time explaining a volounteering Qt dev why he is confrontend with pita all the time, when at the same time he knows how to do it right.
