do you mean the separation between the sequencer (what you call a 'pattern
designer') and the sampler (what you call 'drum module')
if yes :
hydrogen combines these functions in a way that it is very hard (if not
impossible) to separate them
however :
hydrogen can output midi so you can trigger an external application with it
hydrogen also accepts midi input so you can use is as a sound module and
let an other sequencer app trigger hydrogen
there are also some projects that are working on LV2 versions of hydrogen
(keeping only the sound engine part and removing the sequencer) > check out
