I am writing as a humble minimal contributor, so take my suggestions only as informations. Until last year I had not started compiling programs from github and I confirm that I would have been happy to test beta releases if they contained new features (since I am Linux user and Sebastian is speaking of Mac and Win, maybe I could have done it without waiting beta releases...)
I am ok with january as the end for merging new pull requests. I have some open work which is almost finished, but I would like to try adding more property automations if I have time. Also, if there's a list of issues to solve for 1.1 I can see if I can help
Thank you all

Oggetto: [Hydrogen-devel] Hydrogen 1.1 roadmap
Da: mau...@smoors.de
A: Hydrogen Dev List
CC:
Hi everyone,
as more and more features of Hydrogen 1.1 are getting ready, we should
talk about the roadmap or what releases we wish to make (and when). In
the last discussions,
we agreed on the fact that we would like to release more often then
before. But how should that look exactly? I suppose we should discuss
the following questions:
1) Do we want to keep the beta releases?
In the past, we made some (1,2,3..) beta releases for each Hydrogen
version. This has the advantage that Mac OS X and Windows Users (at
least those who do not
compile their Hydrogen on their own) can use those releases for
testing.I had the impression that a lot of users do not want to switch
to a git development version,
they wait for a beta release.
On the other hand, it always takes time to create a release and it might
make no sense if we want to achieve very short release cycles (twice a
year? even more often?).
The situation of the Mac OS X and Windows users might be helped if we
provide AppVeyor builds on a regular base (every month?), but i suppose
that would also
be coming close to releasing a beta :)
2) How often we would like to release?
Are we're trying to release once every year? Or twice? Or maybe every
two years?
3) When do we want to "close" development for 1.1?
---
My personal opinion would be that the beta releases have been helpful in
the past to spot errors, and that Hydrogen users are more attracted to a
more stable
release (in contrast to many smaller, but potential instable) releases.
So i would propose to do release on a yearly base (roughly..), with at
least one beta and the usual
release candidate. But thats just my opinion, i'm also open for trying
out faster release cycles or a completely different release scheme. Any
opinions on this?
About the end of the development phase for 1.1 (at least for bringing in
larger features): We could agree on merging all open work in until mid
of January, and then either doing
a beta or directly a release candidate some weeks later (depending on
the outcome of the discussion..).
Best regards,
Sebastian
