Hi all,

1) Do we want to keep the beta releases?
>

Yes. I've been mulling over the experience of 1.0, in particular Windows
issues, where the bugs felt like showstoppers which could have easily been
found if more people had the the RCs.

I think people are a lot more willing to try a beta than a release
candidate. Beta means "new features" so makes it worthwhile for them to
try, "Release candidate" means "no point trying since release is imminent
anyway, let someone else find the bugs"

So emphasising (possibly multiple) betas over RCs seems a good idea.

I think yearly sounds reasonable, the only issue I see is that it means a
long turn around time on feature requests.

Keeping beta releases should mitigate against that.

And I agree with Phil that we all have other things to do. 2020 has been a
strange year that left me with more time for this sort of thing than
typical years.

(Although 2021 doesn't look as if this will change much for a while!)

3) When do we want to "close" development for 1.1?
>

Mid January sounds pretty reasonable as a date for "feature freeze". And
create a 1.1 branch to isolate from any other mainline disturbances at that
point?

Personally, I have 2 weeks off and can't visit family, so I anticipate
having a productive festive period... :D

All the best,
