Hi, I have been playing a bit with the Hydrogen 0.9.3 found in the openSUSE 10.2 (64 bit version). It is great fun, but I have notice a significant distortion in the sound of the "Kick" and "Tom (Low/Mid/High)".
It seems like there is a lot of hard clipping of the sound as it decays. This type of clipping is not as noticeable on short sounds. When I use other programs involving sound, my sound quality (ALSA) is really good so it is probably not a general problem on my machine. My computer is based on a ASUS M2N-E motherboard and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ processor, with 4 GB of DDR2 (PC6400) RAM. The processor should be powerful enough for sound processing, I guess. On this, I have installed openSUSE 10.2 (64bit version) as downloaded from openSUSE. The sound HW of the motherboard is used, but this seems to work with other sound software from this distribution. Have anybody else experienced the same kind of problems? It would be great to get rid of the clipping noise somehow and be able start to use the software to create music.
