Hi All,
I am new to the list and to Hydrogen. I am an electronics engineer (and a
drummer) and would like to contribute some open-source hardware/firmware to
work with Hydrogen.
My aim is to make a trigger to USB adapter, by-passing expensive
trigger->MIDI converters to allow folk to make up there own drum sets for
"nearly" free ..
I aim to use a small USB microcontroller that has at least 12 analog inputs
to which each is attached (via amps) to a piezo sensor
on a drum pad of your own construction ... I have several
construction techniques in mind.
To get on with this, I would like to ask a few questions about Hydrogen
regarding it's trigger handling.
1. I understand with MIDI there are three bits of info passed, the note,
volume and Left/Right info, my question is, does Hydrogen
use the volume parameter as well as the note?
2. I intend to interface the USB using the HID stack, is there an easy way
to do that with Hydrogen?
(I understand Hydrogen only has MIDI or X keys(on/off) as inputs), if there
is no easy way, then I need to get on the developer
list and find out the best way to modify Hydrogen to accept HID as an input.
3. If HID is not possible, then what USB stack class would be suitable(i.e
what do the USB->MIDI converters use).
I understand these questions are more likely to get answered on the
devel-list, but I thought I would ask here first.
Cheers,
Bernard
