Where do you get your thrift from. The current trunk at gitweb.thrift-
rpc.org is r728863, which has problems as well.

Hypertable shell uses Hypertable client directly. There is a C++
client library in src/cc/ThriftBroker as well (libHyperThrift.a which
has no hypertable dependencies at all.)
Does the ThriftClient-C++ regression pass?, which is built by
default.

I should probably put it in the README, given the current thrift trunk
