We've updated the Hypertable development roadmap document which you can through the following link:
http://code.google.com/p/hypertable/wiki/Roadmap We've decided to stage the recovery/balancing work with the addition of a 0.9.6.* "alpha" release containing automatic range balancing. We may be getting some additional resources, in which case, we should be able to pull some of the dates in.
