I recommend stopping Hypertable, upgrading to version 0.9.7.10 and then 
restarting.  If that doesn't fix the problem, post the entire 
Hypertable.RangeServer.log and DfsBroker.hadoop.log file and I'll take a look 
and try to help you work around it.
