Hi Trond, You are asking the questions to the wrong list. This is the developer list for internationalization (i18n) infrastructure in a free implementation of the X Window system. A mailing list about the i18n issues for your language might be of better help and maybe you will find people on http://www.xfree86.org/mailman/listinfo/newbie more responsive. Still regarding your questions:
1. locale is part of some c library package (for example the GNU one - glibc). It has nothing to do with XFree86. I don't know which system you are using but you might check /usr/share/i18n/charmaps/ If your system is one of xBSD or Linux ancestry, the answer is yes - their source code is available and you may take a look in it. 2. That depends on your shell; in sh types (for example bash) you use export LANG=no_NO in csh types (for example tcsh) setenv LANG no_NO You may put that in your startup files (man bash; man tcsh) Or you may check the documentation of your system for a more convenient way to do the same thing. and if you start in init 5 (graphically), you must configure your login manager. (if it can be configured) man xdm, man gdm, man kdm This link may interest to you http://www.linmag.no/ Kind regards: al_shopov Trond Trosterud wrote: > > 1.
