I have a Dutch keyboard layout (running SuSE 7.1)
I have learned a long time ago that if a configuration is absent, XFree
will use the default Linux kernel keyboard map.
So until now I could perfectly use my Dutch keyboard without any
xmodmap/xkeycaps confiuration, using just the following lines in
XF86Config:

Section "Keyboard"
  Protocol "Standard"
  LeftAlt Meta
  RightAlt ModeShift
EndSection

Recently I have upgraded from 4.0.1 to 4.1.0 and this approach doesn't
work anymore. I have tried numerous things but XFree refuses to use the
Linux kernel keybaord map. Most obvious seems to "translate" the
original keyboard section to the new XF86Config file format. But until
now all my attempts have been unsuccessful. Does this mean I really
have to go to the painful process of defining a specific keyboard map
using xmodmap or xkeycaps?
Does anyone know how the get XFree 4.1.x to honor the default kernel
keymap?

Thanks a bunch,
