The right way to go is to have a separate dir for 8859-15 fonts.
The matching order is hardcoded in the server sources, and it isn't
tunable (however, it had recently changed from ASCII to numeric, so that
8859-15 goes after 8859-5 and before 10646-1).
BTW, you can leave the 8859-15 fonts in the dir where they are
(fonts/{75,100}dpi/ in XFree86-4.1, AFAIR), and make a separate dir with
just aliases and no real fonts, or simply symlink all the 8859-15 files
there.
