I recently sent the following e-mail to the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailling list but received no reply, perhaps this list is more suited for the topic.

  • I have been attempting to compile Xfree from cvs  tag  xf-4_3-branch. Everything compiles fine, but I keep getting the same three errors when running any program that attempts to modify the locale.
  • 1)Locale not supported by Xlib, setting locale to 'C'
  • 2)X locale modifiers not supported, using default
  • and possibly unrelated to the first two
  • 3)Failed to open input method
  • I wrote a small program to test the system:

  • Running the program a number of times with different locales, I received the same result.  My system supports the locale, but xlib does not.
  • Is there some setup step I am missing, perhaps an environment variable that I have not set or a modules I am not loading?  An RPM of 4.2.1 worked fine,  is there some patch that must be applied?
  • I am searching through lcWrap.c right now to try and determine where the problem is originating, but I seem to be stuck. I have attached my XFree86.log file and my site.def file.  I would send the "make World" log file but it is rather large(6MB).  If it is needed I will send it.
