Jeremy Lin scored 27 points that led to Harvard's victory over Boston, 82-70. The Eagles had moved into the Top 25 by defeating the till-then unbeaten Tar Heels at Chapter Hill, 85-78. Coach Skinner said he had warned his team that it took a very little time to go from being at the top to ending at the bottom. Harvard Coach Tommy Amaker was, however, delighted. He said it was special night for his team as they had had the opportunity to play against an outstanding basketball team. Boston College highest scorers were Corey Raji who scored 16, Tyrese Rice 14 and Joe Trapani who scored 12 points. Right up until the final 4 minutes, Rice was held to 3 points. The Harvard high scorers remained Lin (27), Oliver McNally (17) and Andrew Pusar (13). Harvard began a 57-45 points edge with only 9:04 to play and that's when Peter Boehm scored a 3 pointer just as the shot clock expired. They raised the lead to 62-48 in less than 2 minutes when McNally scored a 3 before his own bench. He was so wildly excited that he started jumping up and down. Who said college basketball results were any less exciting than NBA. Harvard was leading 66-50 with 5:06 remaining thanks to Doug Miller's layup. This was when the Eagles started to apply fullcourt pressure so as to gain control over the game. However, full credit goes to Lin for keeping his poise and not letting Harvard lose control. He kept taking on a number of Boston defenders by himself who tried their best to stop him from scoring but he was unstoppable. According to the disappointed Skinner, Lin "got in a rhythm". An unhappy Skinner was doubtful about his team's performance in the upcoming Atlantic Coast Conference against Miami on Saturday, 10th Jan. Inspite of Boston College trying to get into the game with a quick spurt of 6-0 that took them to 66-56, they were unable to get back into the game far enough to win it. At the half, Crimson led by 6 and by the first possession of the second half they had made it to 35-27, thanks to a brilliant steal and breakaway layup by Lin. A 3 pointer shot from the left corner gave the Crimsons their first two digit lead in the game, 42-31 with just 16:55 remaining of the game. BC players seemed not to be in the game mentally as Josh Southern failed to get a hold on an outlet pass from Raji, and Trapani bumped into the side of the backboard. BC led 17-11 in the first half of the match but that changed dramatically when Harvard scored 10 straight points in just 1:47 and getting a 33-27 lead by halftime.
