They serve as a marketing tool for your skills, abilities and services which
you have to offer. People make several judgments about you after looking at
your business card. That is why business cards are very critical in business
networking. They are even more important than resume as resume cannot be
carried along everywhere. So business cards can help you a lot in establishing
the foundation for your business networking.

Always give your business cards to everyone and ask them for referrals. Offer
your services and ask them if they have acquaintance with anyone who may use my
services. This will make them feel very comfortable. These kinds of sentences
are much better than saying "is your company recruiting". In fact indirect
sentences have more buffering effect. People generally like if they would do
some favor. So you should ask them to do a favor by passing on your services to
someone.

Never misjudge or undervalue the power of networking. Maximize the chances of
every "by chance" encounter. You can have no idea of when you may meet someone
who may be a major client or customer for you in future. Social events and
parties can be a great source of these unexpected encounters and meetings. Even
little gathering may have a great potential for your future prospects. You can
give business cards to many people and may have lots of good results. If you
are going to a birthday party there is also a probability to meet someone who
may be very important for your business in future.

Events and gatherings are a big opportunity for you to market yourself in front
of others. But don't let these events go in waste. Don't just collect and give
business cards to the people. Do something more to make yourself visible in
front of others.

You should be prominent enough to make others think that you have some
extraordinary abilities and willingness to do something extra. For example, on
events like job fairs or business conference you must volunteer to help to
these kinds of events. It makes you visible and makes the company
representatives think that you are willing to do beyond limits in helping them.
It will make a better strategic place for you to present your resume or
business card. A famous quote says that what you give the world always comes
back to you. So if you help people enough to get something in life it will come
back to you to help you what you want from life.

After interviews, meetings or some events it might happen that people don't
call you. It's very difficult to remember every person. So make people remember
you by following the rule of "out of sight, out of mind". Do something quite
different to make you stand out from the people in competition with you. And
also never get disappointed. Be persistent and patient in waiting for the
results.

Are you ready to get more out of your own networking efforts? Do you have
trouble selling because you're shy or just not the aggressive type? Maybe
you're just sick of the hard-sell approach that isn't getting results anyway.
