Usually, when people think of maintaining healthy hair, they think of choosing high quality shampoo, conditioner, and other care products, as well as not over styling or blow drying. While these are all excellent ways of keeping hair silky and gorgeous, there is another option to ensure hair is strong and healthy. The type of hairbrush used should be given just as much consideration as shampoo and conditioner. Not only will the right hairbrush keep a person's hair clean, it will also help build strong hair follicles so there is less breakage. Of course, along with the right brush, it is important that people choose natural products, drink plenty of water, eat a well-balanced diet, exercise, and get proper sleep. All of these factors come together to build strong hair, rejuvenated skin, and grow healthy nails. For starters, people need to know three important things pertaining to brushing hair. While this might seem like something very simple, it can have a significant impact on the health of hair. For one thing, brushing the hair actually improves blood circulation to the scalp, which means hair follicles are getting better blood flow and thereby, hair grows healthier and stronger. Second, the best type of brush to promote healthy hair is one made of natural bristles such as boar's hair. The reason is that boar's hair has similar keratin found in human hair. Therefore, this type of bristle helps by absorbing excessive oil and dirt. When choosing a natural bristle brush, people should look for one that has rounded tips in that these gently massage the scalp, again promoting better blood circulation. Nylon brushes should be avoided because they are simply too rough on the scalp, often causing the follicles to become irritated and inflamed. Third, healthy hair is the result of keeping it clean. Hair naturally has a slight amount of oil, which is needed but if a person does not wash his or her hair often enough, oil and dirt builds up, which then causes the follicles to become clogged. The best thing is to wash the hair using natural shampoo and conditioner at least three times a week, comb out, air or blow dry, and then use the natural bristle brush. Brushing the hair dry reduces the potential of breakage. However, people need to use gentle strokes, going from the front of the scalp all the way back down to the back. It is important for a person to use a little pulling pressure while brushing, which stimulates hair follicles so oil is released to lubricate hair. Brushing once in the morning and again before going to bed at minimum and for three minutes each time will promote beautiful, healthy hair.
