There are four factors you will want to consider when you are selecting an
engagement ring. You should think about the price, family traditions, your
fiancee's style and your fiancee's lifestyle.

First of all, price is obviously an issue. Unless you can afford anything, you
are going to be weeding out a lot of rings because you simply cannot afford
them. Your price will depend a lot on the size of the diamond.

Experts will recommend you spend two-month's salary on an engagement ring.
Although this is a number pulled out of the air by jewelry companies, it's a
number many people go by. Certainly, do not spend more than you can afford to
set aside.

You want your fiancee to love the ring you select, but you don't want the ring
to be too much stress on you because it is out of your price range. If two
month's of your salary doesn't seem doable, then don't worry about that. And if
you can afford more, than go for it!

Second, perhaps you plan on wearing your great-grandma's diamond engagement
ring. That will make this whole process a lot easier because you won't even
have to select or buy a ring.

You may want to embellish the ring a bit, however. You can have the ring redone
at a jeweler's shop. Of course, you could also keep the ring as it is. Perhaps
it has more meaning to you that way. You may want to include your fiancee in
this discussion to get his or her opinion.

If you want to go with something antique but there are no rings passed down in
your family, you could always consider a vintage diamond engagement ring.

As for style, your fiancee probably doesn't expect or even want a 3.5-carat
ring or a ring with a dozen diamonds. She will be happy just to get any diamond.

Consider her style. Does she like gold or platinum? Would she prefer a single
diamond or three diamonds? What shape does she like? If you don't know, just
ask!

Don't worry too much about the size of the diamond. Instead, go with the style
she likes, and then get the largest diamond you can afford in that style. It
might be .25 carats or it might be 2 carats, but you can always upgrade the
diamond ring later on.

As for what the diamond is worth, you may want to look for something that will
increase in value over time. Or maybe you don't care about that and want to go
with something simply based on style.

As for where to shop for rings, you have so many options it can be
overwhelming. The best advice is to look at a variety of different places,
mostly to compare styles and prices. Check out your local jewelry shop, but
also look at some online jewelry stores.

Buying online is the way to go for more and more people today. It's faster.
It's convenient and you can compare more rings. Since you don't have to spend
your time driving around, you can look at hundreds of rings in a few minutes.

Above all, the ring should be chosen and given with love. That's more important
than style, the price or where the ring came from.

http://www.SoKoBe.com offers a wide variety of diamond engagement rings and
diamond solitaire rings to suit the needs of any jewelry appetite.
