Two of the most challenging parts of parenthood is discovering and nurturing
your child's creativity. Just make sure that you will be able to capture the
first sign of his love for the arts to successfully identify and boost his
specific aspect of creativity. When you talk of discovering artistry of your
child, you specifically talk about stage acting, painting or drawing, and
singing or playing musical instruments.

1. The Stage Performer
When you see your child and his playmates keep on doing a little "drama' or
role playing, such as acting as if he is an office boss, it could mean he is a
drama actor in the making. But, make a test to make sure. Bring him in stage
plays where kids his age perform. Observe his appreciation of what he sees. Ask
him if he wants to become one of them. If he is, enroll him in a drama or
stage-acting class immediately or come next summer so he can hone his acting
skills. If he is able to complete the class, this does not only mean he is
really keen on joining stage plays, but also you are entering a whole new world
of theater.

2. The Artist
You would know if your child is into drawing or painting when he starts asking
for papers and colors to draw, and when this activity becomes his everyday
interest. At a young age, his strokes will tell you if this interest is for
real. You would notice how his drawings are different from children his age.
Buy him art materials, such as colors, clays, paints, brushes, and canvases,
among others. Check the label to ensure that these materials are good for your
kids. If he continues to amuse you, try to bring him in art galleries, where
there are kid art paintings being displayed. Enroll him in painting lessons
also. Collect his works from the first time he tried to draw until his recent
paintings. Display them in his room, and some, in your living room. This will
inspire him more.

3. The Musician
Children, when inclined to music, easily identify good music whenever they hear
one. They start humming or making sounds similar to the ones they are hearing.
At age 2, they start singing with the right tune. Amazing! Therefore, do not
waste your child's talent. Introduce your child to music. Enroll him in music
lessons. Bring him in some musical performances in your city. Buy her some
musical CDs.

If he's not into singing, but shows interest in musical instruments, buy him
one that is of most interest to him. Teach him how to play the musical
instrument. If you do not know how, ask someone to tutor him. If not, enroll
him in group lessons.

After successfully enhancing the creativity of your child, you may start
looking forward to a whole new world of performances.
