There are countless place to visit in North Dakota if you want to spend some
time camping, hiking, biking, horseback riding or just being outdoors. There
are several places to visit in the state that are not mentioned on this list.

Here are just five of the best places to visit in North Dakota if you are up
for some outdoor adventures. Make sure to book rooms at North Dakota hotels
early, as rooms can fill up quickly in towns like Fargo during busy months of
the year.

1. Fort Ransom State Park

Fort Ransom State Park is a good place to visit in North Dakota because it is
located in the middle of the state in the beautiful Sheyenne River valley. At
Fort Ransom, visitors go canoeing, fishing or hiking.

Birds are plentiful at Fort Ransom. Some tourists like to walk on the North
Country National Scenic Trail or go on picnics. Camping is popular in the
summer and cross-country skiing is common in the winter.

This park is a great place to visit during all four seasons. In the spring, the
park has flowers blooming and mild weather. The fall offers colored leaves and
in the winter there are plenty of things to do as long as you dress warm!

If you are looking for North Dakota hotels near Fort Ransom, the park is about
two hours from Fargo hotels, two hours from Jamestown ND hotels and about one
hour from Valley City ND hotels.

Fort Ransom is located near the town of Fort Ransom ND.

2. Fort Seward Wagon Train

This is a weeklong adventure that starts out in Jamestown ND. Tourists live as
pioneers on the prairie. That means no showering and a lot of hard work.

Some of the more pleasant activities include campfires, sleeping under the
stars and good cooking. This trip is a good getaway from the big city.

Participants will be camping during the event, but nearby hotels in Jamestown
ND are nearby and Fargo hotels or Bismarck hotels are about 90 minutes away.
Those taking part in this adventure will be eager for a shower once the week is
over!

3. Fort Stevenson State Park

This park is on Lake Sakakawea and is open year round. There is boating access,
fishing and boat rental. Camping is available and there are picnic tables and
cabins for rent.

4. Lake Metigoshe State Park

This park is located on the border of the United States and Canada. There are
numerous lakes in the park used for canoeing, boating and fishing. People also
swim in the lake.

Trails are available for hiking and mountain biking. In the winter, trails are
cleared for both cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

5. Maah Daah Hey Trail

This trail runs from the northern part of Theodore Roosevelt National Park to
the southern part of the park. It is 97 miles total and most commonly used for
mountain biking.

Motor vehicles are not allowed on this trail or within the park itself. The
trail runs around the park. Camping is available along the trail in four areas.

If you attempt this trail in the summer, bring plenty of water because you will
not find any along the trail.
