One area that always seems to need a lot of internet marketing help is
pay-per-click marketing. What exactly is pay-per-click and how can it help you
as a marketer? Pay-per-click is a method where you pay a search engine to drive
traffic to your site. How is this done? You set up a campaign with them, they
run your ad, and when someone clikcs on your ad and goes to your site (or sales
page) you pay a certain amount for each click.

It is a very effective way to generate traffic and it usually starts working
immediately. The only problem with this method is that it can be kind of
confusing for newbies. People usually need a lot of internet marketing help on
this particular topic. Let's take a look at some of the best tips to get the
most out of your pay-per-click campaign.

1. Use the big search engines. Yes, there are a lot of search engines out
there. However, over 95% of the search engine traffic comes from the more
well-established search engines. The big three are Google, Yahoo, and Bing. You
should pretty much devote all of your money and time to these three search
engines. This is where you will get the most traffic for your site. The smaller
search engines might be cheaper, but you get what you pay for.

2. Make your message congruent with your site. When you craft an ad, don't make
it too confusing. Have you ever seen one of those ads that say "Don't buy "X"
product!" Then you click on the ad and it just takes you to a squeeze page to
get you to buy that same product. Most people hate that and your potential
customers will be no different. If marketers need internet marketing help with
anything, it is this.

3. Come up with a relevant keyword list to use. You need to put yourself in the
shoes of your potential customers. Think about what they would sit down and
type into a search engine to find your product. You'll come up with several
different answers and this is what your keyword list should be comprised of. Do
keyword research to see what words people are typing in to find products or
services like yours.

4. Experiment with the cost-per-click. When you set up your campaign, try it
out and see what it takes to rank in the top two or three spots. The last thing
you want to do is overpay for the top spot. If you can get the top spot and you
think its a reasonable price for what you're getting, go for it. Many people
are confused by the whole pay-per-click and for good reason. It can get
complicated. If you take your time and play with the numbers, you can come up
with a winning combination.

5. Set a daily budget. This is pretty much a given with most pay-per-click
programs, but you need to think about how much you can afford each day and
week. They'll probably only bill you monthly, so think about how big that bill
will be after a month. Don't overdo it.

Keep these internet marketing tips in mind and they will go a long way towards
keeping you on the right track with pay-per-click marketing.
