Starting a conversation with a guy that you like may be a challenging feat. In
fact, some women have this fear of being rejected even before they approach the
guy that they like. But this shouldn't happen because even dull or awkward
situations can turn into an interesting scene with you and the hot guy as the
center of it all.

However, when timidity strikes it is hard to tell whether you can or cannot
make a good approach at conversing with the hot guy. It may depend on the
situation, location and crowd. But think about this, there's no specific
location if you happen to be there at the right time. The only question is, if
you can talk to him or not without boring him.

1. Don't talk about the weather. Please, this is a used and battered technique
that doesn't seem to work anymore. If you happen to like a guy at work- the one
who is just a cubicle away from you- strategize first on how you can walk with
him along the hallway going to the cafeteria or to the water cooler.

The idea is to get him to notice that you're his co-worker so saying "hi" won't
be awkward. Once this is established, the next time you bump into each other,
saying more than a "hi" is possible. At that point, you can ask him about his
position in the company, how long he's been in the company and how his stay is
so far. Ask him interesting questions about his work since your location is at
work.

2. If you happen to see your long-time crush at the mall, don't stalk him! Be
casual, look for ways to get to him without being obvious. If he's at the men's
section, try to go there with a purpose aside from trying to talk to him.

Think of your dad or your brother who might need something and you're there to
get it for him. If the guy knows you, say "hi" and ask his suggestion for a
birthday present for your brother or dad, or what hair product is better for
your teenage brother. It's a good thing that you ask his opinion or suggestion
about something so he'll know that you're interested in him even though it's an
indirect approach.

3. If the guy that you like is a bit sheepish, you can approach him and make
him feel that you're harmless and you just want to be friends with him. Some
guys are like that, and it's not their fault if they're too shy and quiet. Do
approach him in a friendly and casual way. If possible don't start the
conversation yet because he might not respond favorably. Body language is
important with this type of guy, so just show him some friendly gesture like a
smile.

If he'll approach you, then, that's the time to start the conversation. Ask him
how he's doing and if he's okay with the crowd. Then you can ask him if he's
with somebody and if he's not, you can ask him to sit down with you coz your
feet hurt. Something like that for starters won't hurt, just be sincere no
matter what the conversation is.

4. No matter how bad you want to talk to the guy that you like, it's still a
good idea to be a bit reserved at the moment. A smile can do wonders especially
if he's familiar with you or he's just 2 floors away from your apartment. In
case the two of you bumped into each other on the elevator, on the way to the
lobby of your apartment building, you can use the smile technique first and
wait if he'll smile back. If he says something first, just go with the flow. Be
casual and friendly so he won't be taken aback.

5. Now, if the guy that you like happens to be a senior executive in your
company, there's a different approach to that. Remember that this guy has
executive powers, so it's going to be a difficult feat. If he's a bachelor,
chances are he's looking for women to date. So be available and visible in the
places that they usually hang out. Make sure that you don't look desperate
though, because these guys can sense that a woman is interested in them and
they may have a different idea about that. Being in the executive lair has its
pros and cons particularly when it comes to dating other executives or staff.
To be safe, it's advisable to try and talk to him outside the company so you'll
both be on neutral ground.

Some women are not good at conversations especially when it's the guy they like
that we're talking about. The key is to be friendly at all times. Don't flirt
yet, it's not the right time or the right situation. A guy can feel that a
woman is interested in him, and there will be a chance to open up to him once
he's comfortable with you.
