The Chevy Lumina was a popular range of cars from General Motors. General Motors is an American Company that designed this car from 1990 until it finally ceased production back in 2001. It went through several redesigns over its lifespan and prove to be a considerably popular vehicle with a good track record and reliability and performance. Originally, the cars were built in a single plant which was set in Ontario of Canada. The car had a fairly unique design, being known as being one of the longest cars of the W-body type. In 1997, the product line had started to be phased out, slowly being replaced with a Chevrolet Venture. The first generation of cars, introduced in 1990 introduced mid-sized cars similar to the Pontiac Grand Prix. It became a popular seller, but it was widely criticised by various motoring magazines for being rather late in the game, being rather technologically behind certain competing models. In 1995, the second generation of this product line began. The second generation sore a major redesign, redesigning the original to door version which was once orders the coupe. At this point, various tweaks were made to the car and more powerful engine was introduced. The car also became popular be sold to law enforcement agencies and taxi companies. This was partly because of its reliability and reasonable performance, and it became very popular, as did many cars from General Motors, for all sorts of government agencies and other major organisations. The parts for the cars were always relatively cheap and they were quite economical to run. Then again, in 1998, the next generation of Chevy Lumina hit the market. This or a number of impressive safety changes and upgrades including some especially advanced second generation airbags. Production eventually ended in Canada back in 1999 but United States production ended in the middle of 2001. Nonetheless, the production of the car continued in certain Asian countries while in Latin America, it was sold under a different name, that name being the Omega. Two years afterwards, the production also came to an end to the United States but continued in various countries in Asia and Latin America where it was also sold under a different name. The car had a considerably successful and popular history in the Middle East and South Africa as well and various aspects of the car have been used in designs right up until the present.
