The smokey eye look has made a following on its own with the trend hitting
Hollywood and ramps all over the world. Many women want their own smokey eye
look but just can't make it on their own. It's either they go to a friend who
knows how to do it or they hit the salon.

But you too can have your own smokey eye look without feeling intimidated or
scared of making mistakes. In the world of makeup and looking fabulous, you can
always experiment and do a trial-and-error in order to master the art.

Here are 7 simple steps to help you look fabulous with your own smokey eyes:

1. Prepare your eyes

First thing to do is to apply concealer all over your top eyelids as well as
your under eye area. You may use your foundation as a concealer which also
functions as base for your eye shadow.

2. Lining your eyelids

You may use eyeliner pencil or liquid eyeliner, whichever you prefer. Apply
eyeliner on both top and bottom eyelids. Apply into the eyelashes as much as
you can. For small eyes, apply eyeliner starting at the middle of the bottom
eyelids going toward the outside corners of your eyes. For big eyes, apply
eyeliner all over your lids [corner to corner].

3. Applying eye shadow

Use a q-tip small eye shadow brush to soften the eyeliner's edges. Use a
sponge-tip applicator to apply dark shadow and smudge it using q-tip or smudge
brush directly over the area where you applied the eyeliner. The shadow softens
the look and helps set the eye makeup.

4. Blending the look

Use a wet-dry brush when applying a lighter eye shadow. Encircle the eye area
ensuring that you soften and go outward to blend the makeup.

5. Adding the mascara

The mascara brings that dramatic look to the eyes. If you wish to add more
drama to your eyes, apply 2 to 3 coats of black mascara. You may look for
mascara that has extenders; the ones that seem to add length to your eyelashes.
These are really great for making your eyes dramatic and tantalizing.

6. Tidying up

You need to clean up the excess or stray eye makeup. Use a fluffy brush or
press powder applicator to brush away fallen eye shadow makeup on the under eye
area. Clean the smeared areas using q-tip.

7. Complementing your eye makeup with lip color

Making your eyes the center of attraction needs some help from other makeup
too. By using nude or natural color lipstick will make your eyes truly pop up.
Use light-colored lip liner and natural-colored lipstick such as peach, very
light pink or caramel if you don't like the nude.

More drama for the smokey eye look calls for darker lip color. You may use dark
lip liner and deep-colored lipstick. Just make sure the colors of your eye
makeup and lipstick will complement each other.

Of course, don't forget your cheeks. You may use natural-colored blush-on to
complete the look.

Practice these steps at home and experiment with colors that suit you. You can
even hold a makeup party with your friends to experiment which colors fit best
on each of your gal pals and yourself.
