If you are facing a severe financial crisis from "downsizing" or whatever and can't seem to find a job. If no one seems to appreciate your knowledge, skills, and experience. If your age is a stumbling block or any number of other problems are blocking your way, maybe it's time to eliminate those roadblocks and view things in a different manner. First of all you need to understand that no matter where you may have gone to work everyday, that you always had the same employer! YOU! In a Wal Mart or a Dr.'s office, the purpose of the routine was to earn money to help YOU pay your bills, support your family, etc. No matter what the line of work, the primary objective was to profit you and yours. Once you realize that you do and always have worked for yourself, and that you basically sub-contracted your body out to the "employer", it should become obvious that you already have a job. I know! How does that help? Most people find that once you realize that you already work for yourself, the thought of being self employed is not nearly so scary! There are limitless opportunities available and though it may not be what you have always done, doing anything is better than nothing. Think of all the times you told someone how much better you could do something than your supervisor or boss. Imagine all the roads that are now available to you. Be inventive; investigate, use discipline, and treat your time as valuably as if you were asking someone else to pay you. If not, the only person you short change is you. Place a value on yourself! Stop being afraid, do some research and get started at something. If you allow yourself to be paralyzed by fear, it will only make things worse. As Master Yoda would say, "use the force". Harness the power of your mind and spirit. Become part of the solution. Start a retail business, or service business, cut grass, wash cars, do taxes, go to the Internet, become a blogger in your area of expertise. Do something! Be a free lance consultant or personal assistant. Run errands for people who do not have time to do things for themselves easily. Pick up laundry, renew car tags, go to UPS, take the elderly to Drs., even shop for gifts and groceries. All you need to start are business cards with your phone number and an idea. Cards are cheap and are even available for free in some places on the internet. There are no limits to the power of your mind and your imagination.
