Misconceptions are strife in the many weight loss circles about what is good
for you and what is bad. One such misconception surrounds Carbohydrates: Are
they good for you or are they bad? Poor education on this matter and people
acting on this information can, and does, lead to people having medical issues.
The idea that carbohydrates are completely bad for you, and if they are
avoided, weight loss will invariably become much easier, is absolute nonsense!

It goes without saying that our bodies need to function and survive and to do
so properly they need to be provided with the necessary fuel and minerals. The
one thing that needs to be understood is that there is very little that is bad
for our bodies if taken in the correct quantities; it is when these necessary
intake levels are exceeded that there are concerns.

There are good and bad fats, proteins and minerals, and the same can be said of
carbohydrates. Needless to say avoiding the bad is a good idea but good carbs
provide our bodies with nutrition and above all, much needed energy. Below are
highlighted various foods that are high in carbohydrates, some of which you
need and some of which need to be avoided, therefore ensuring quick weight loss:

1. Here are some of the foods that contain carbohydrates that you need to avoid:

Generally, processed foods are packed with carbohydrates and these fall into
the bad bracket, the foods in their raw form do contain nutrition that could be
used but much, if not all of this is lost during processing leaving nothing but
empty calories that will help to do nothing more than making you fat!

Foods that fall into this category are; White bread, pasta, cakes and biscuits,
sodas, chocolate, candies and chips but to name a few. If you are serious about
losing weight you must avoid all of these foods. Many processed foods contain
high levels of sugar which is extremely high in calories meaning than the more
sugar you eat the more weight you will gain, they are also lacking in nutrients
and fiber making them very easy for the body to convert into fat deposits.

2. Carbohydrates that benefit you, and are therefore classed as good
carbohydrates:

These are found in raw fruits, seeds, whole meal pasta, wholegrain bread and
vegetables. The carbohydrates found in these foods are slow burning
carbohydrates. They take a lot longer to digest meaning more calories are
burned in the digestion process plus they contain a lot of natural fiber that
acts as a natural appetite suppressant, making you less hungry, and therefore
you do not put on weight.

Always remember that with most food groups there are specific good and bad
foods; carbohydrates, as outlined above are no different. Your body requires
certain levels of each in order to remain healthy; omitting carbohydrates from
your diet completely will make you feel lethargic, tired and also make you
suffer from severe mood swings, eating the right carbohydrates can and will
result in weight loss and high energy levels.
