Most people know a good website when they see it, and anyone interested in starting to blog in an official online capacity will likely want a sharp looking well designed blog page in which to present their writings. However, if you do not have a few thousand dollars or more to commit to a qualified web designer or you do not posses the necessary skills to design one yourself, it is unlikely that your first foray into the world of blogging will be accompanied by a professionally designed blog page. That does not mean that your first blog page will be an embarrassment either. There are some important things that you can do in the initial blog setup process to create a blog page that will look good. With a free blogging site, which is very popular these days, once you have completed the sign up phase of creating a password and user name as well as picking a name for your blog, you will then need to choose what your page will look like. Most free sites will offer some general templates for you to use. While there is nothing extremely fancy about these basic templates, they are for the most part very flexible and can be edited quite extensively. You can change colors, layout configurations, add photos and change fonts as well. While it may lack the ultra custom design of a high dollar web page design, in truth, the editing that can be done will make these basic templates look very good.Another option you might want to consider when you are at the template phase of your blog setup is looking for more blog site templates. There are many different developers that offer a wide array of custom built blog templates online. In many cases, these templates are free for downloading and the themes range from movie stars to sports to cars and just about everything else in between. Once again, these templates are all pre made so they will not be like a custom web page you might have envisioned, however, they are one step closer to a fully customized blog site page. While none of these options may completely satisfy some people, what has to be understood is that these basic templates you will see in doing your blog setup or the more customized downloadable templates are a great place to start. With the editing that can be done, you are likely to find a good middle ground and something that you can be happy until you can afford to spend money on exactly what you want. However, it is important to remember that the main focus should be on your blogging. All the edited basic templates or the customized templates and even the top of the line designer blog page will do you very little good if your blogging is not up to speed. The blogging is the thing, everything else is merely window dressings. Peter Downs is a blogger, internet marketer and addicted scribbler.
