------------------ ARTICLE START ------------------

We have just passed Valentine's Day and hopefully you were able to bypass some
of the financial pot holes out there in terms of spending on gifts. Now, it is
time to work with your partner in order to achieve more thrifty and
money-saving achievable outcomes.

I am sure all of us have felt that our significant other is sometimes not on
the same page as ourselves. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone were exactly the
same! Ugh! Well, of course not. I don't want to live in a world with everyone
exactly like me! It would drive me crazy! Ha! Ha! Variety is the spice of life.
This is true in our personal relationships and it is true in our financial
relationships. In fact, if two people are so thrifty that they lose out on too
many of the nice things in life (yes, there are nice things in life that need
to be purchased. Not all nice things are "free".), that can be very difficult
on us and our loved ones.

Just like having the right ingredients for a good meal, the right ingredients
are required for the right "thrifty" lifestyle. You may need to play with the
ingredients (add a little salt or oregano!). But, through trial and error you
will get a sense of where to cut back and where not to cut back. Over time you
may very well require less and less to make yourself happy (because that can
only truly happen from inside you). Perhaps, you start using online coupons
when shopping for grocery items or online products? Start small. Build over
time.

So, in the beginning, go easy with your partner on discussions of financial
differences. I would suggest a very open discussion. But, keep it that - a
discussion. Then, try and tip toe into ways to "start" to make a thrifty
difference in both of your lives. "Rome wasn't built in a day"; and, neither is
your thrifty awareness and lifestyle. So, go easy and have a good time.
