Swarovski hot fix motif designs are becoming very popular these days. You can get a variety of apparel sporting these impressive designs wherever you shop. But if you're not a fan of these ready-made designs, or fancy yourself as having a bit of creative flair, you can always design your own Swarovski hot motif on the fabric of your choice. All it requires to design an attractive motif is a few simple steps. There are no special materials required for the task; all you need is a transfer film (purchased online or in any arts/crafts shop), Swarovski or iron on Rhinestone crystals, a clothes iron, and some white paper. The first step is selecting a design or artwork to be printed on your fabric. You can create your own unique design or make use of one of the patterns from one of the many shops online, or CD's available for this purpose. After you select the design of your choice, the next task is to source good quality transfer film or heat proof transfer paper. Available online, or from your neighborhood supermarket or stationer, these transparent sheets are quite simple to use and do not call for any professional expertise. They come in a range of sizes, so you will most certainly find one that matches the size of your fabric or garment. Once you have managed to get hold of the transfer film, you are ready to get started on the printing stage. Print your design of choice on white paper using a deskjet or laser printer. Next, take the transfer film and remove the non-adhesive backing paper from the transfer film. Using tape, attach the corners of the transparent sheet onto your design paper, taking care to keep the sticky side of the film on top. Now using tweezers to help you, carefully place each crystal of choice onto your design sheet. You really can be as creative as you like, choosing colors that suit your design and match the fabric or garment on which you are creating your motif. Remember to place the rhinestones face up on your design. (If you don't want to adhere your design to your garment immediately, you can replace the white sheet and store it for use later). After you put all the crystals in place, transfer the entire design onto your fabric, taking care to use a hard, flat surface as the base plate for the fabric. Ensure that the transfer film and design are placed exactly as you want the design to be on your fabric; the sticky side of the transfer film should be on the fabric. This keeps the design and the crystals in place during application. Cover your design and the transfer film preferably with a heat-resistant sheet, which will help in protecting the sole plate of your iron, and also create a uniform heating surface. Move the iron slowly and consistently over the sheet, first making sure it is preheated to a temperature suitable for your fabric. You will need to move the iron on the design for about 9 to 10 seconds for crystals of size 3mm to 4mm; larger crystals require more time to adhere. Maintaining correct temperature and timing is essential to transfer the motif correctly and strongly onto your garment. After ironing, allow the sheet to cool down, then peel off the transfer film slowly, inch by inch. If possible, allow both the garment and the transfer film to reach room temperature, and wait for at least 24 hours prior to removing the transfer film. After this, your new motif will be transferred to the fabric, and your garment is ready to wear.
