Have you ever walked through a store finding an embellished top that caught
your eye only to turn over the price tag and see its well above your budget?
Well you're not alone if you find yourself in this situation. With finances
getting tighter it makes sense you aren't able to afford every bejeweled top
you see. The great news is you can create tops like this on your own much more
affordably with the help of Swarovski hot fix crystals.

If you've never heard of Swarovski hot fix crystals, you have no idea what
you've been missing. Swarovski creates some of the most beautiful jewels on the
market. In sum, a Swarovski hot fix crystal is a rhinestone that has glue on
the back. This jewel can be applied to fabric by heating the stone to about 350
degrees Fahrenheit, which melts the glue, and allows it to stick to the fabric
you apply it to.

All you need to melt the glue is a household iron, and a bit of creativity. If
you're looking for a more accurate application method, you can use a
specialized tool designed to pick up a rhinestone, heat it, and allow you to
affix it directly to the material. You should be aware that there is
potentially a weak element to the crystals. The silver backing is only glued to
the glass crystal, and over time that can be pulled free as a result of ill
handling of the garment. To avoid this, you will want to be sure you take
proper care of any garment you have applied crystals to. The best way to care
for them is to gently hand-wash any embellished garments rather than sending
them through the washing machine or to the dry cleaner.

When you are ready to apply the crystals, be sure you have properly prepared
your fabric. Basically, this means you have a clean and preshrunk garment in
front of you, lying on a completely flat surface, with no creases in the
material. Heat up either your bejeweling tool or your home iron. The bejeweling
tool will allow you to pick up the crystal independently, but if you are using
an iron you place all the crystals in the desired pattern, onto the garment
right side up. Then you hold the iron or bejeweling tool on top of the stone so
the glue can melt and allow the stone to adhere to the material. After you have
placed the crystal in place, allow the glue to cool, and soon you will be able
to wear your beautifully embellished top.

If you have an eye for all things sparkly, but a tight budget, you are not
alone. However, with the help of Swarovski hot fix crystals you can have the
wardrobe that you have always dreamed about, without breaking the bank.
