Summary: Article marketing is the basics of building an online business. There
are many ways or reasons for writing articles. This report will focus on the
four basic reasons. The four reasons are; list building, traffic generation
and affiliate marketing.

1. List Building

Building a list is the center and core of any online business. Many of the top
marketers will tell you that they would rather have someone be on their list
especially for the long term than make a quick one time sale. The answer is
because you can sell to that person over and over and over again. Your article
should be directing the prospect to your newsletter or the free gift you are
giving away. The only way to get the free gift is to fill out your lead
capture page.

It is a lot harder and costs a lot more to initially find a customer, than to
maintain a current one. And once you do you want him for life. The key to
keeping him long term is to give him a lot of value and he will stay. If you
only try to sell him he will unsubscribe.

2. Traffic Generation

Article marketing is the single greatest long term method for driving traffic
to your site. Your articles also become viral. You tell people in your
article that they can pass it around without restrictions as long as they don't
edit or change the pdf document in any way.

A key technique is to subscribe to an article submission service like Content
Crooner. These services push your article out to hundreds of article
directories.

Article marketing is one of the standard ways to get backlinks to your website.
Backlinks are super important to rank high on the Google rankings.

Renegade Professional suggests writing comments in other blogs about your
specific article to get backlinks to your website. Make sure your comment is
valuable. In the end of your comment include the link back to your specific
article. Do not link back to your homepage. You should consider using a URL
shortener such as Bitly. Make an intelligent and valuable comment adding to
their content and in return include the link directly to your article. Don't
link to your homepage but directly to your article.

3. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a decent alternative to Google's adwords. Google seems
to have something against affiliate marketers. Write an article teaching about
the affiliate product you are promoting. Again, avoid blatant sales pitching.
The more you teach the more you sell. Include your affiliate link in the
resources box. If you did a good job teaching they are likely to click on your
affiliate link.

4. Authority

Becoming an authority is critical especially since more and more people are
turning to the internet to make a living. To compete you need a massive
presence. You want your name to be all over the place without spamming. You
want to be the person with the answers to all your markets problems. Articles
are a powerful way to do this. Submitting articles to article directories is a
great way to make yourself an expert. You need both quantity and quality.
Have a goal of sending out one article every day.

Conclusion: It may or may not surprise you that using article marketing to make
immediate money is not the best option.
