Noticed how you are always running short of time while getting dressed. The
clock will not tick any slower but there are ways however, in which you can
combat the time crunch. Keeping clothes mended, washed and ironed allows you to
quickly slip into them without wasting time, running around in preparation.
Similarly by cleaning jewelry immediately after each week, they remain ready to
wear, saving you the time and hassle while accessorizing and getting dressed.
Keeping jewelry clean not only preserves the quality of the prices but also
makes getting ready, a less time consuming affair.

Tips of Caution:

* One must make sure that no perfume or cosmetic products come in contact
with jewelry. Hairspray, perfumes and other cosmetic products have the most
damaging effects on jewelry.

* Jewelry must be always worn and taken off with freshly washed clean
hands.

* One must be careful while cleaning jewelry as certain gemstones like
pearls, emeralds and opals are susceptible to cracking and chipping. While
cleaning stone encrusted jewelry, one must make sure that the fittings are not
loose. One must also never clean stone set jewelry pieces over a washbasin or
sink. This is because loose stones, if any, happen to get detached will go
zipping down the drain channel before you even get time to bat an eyelid!

* When it comes to taking care of your diamonds, you must ensure that two
diamonds never end up brushing against each other as this would cause scratches
and marks to appear on them, reducing their worth and beauty.

* One must always dry a jewelry piece perfectly after rinsing. Storing
without properly drying a piece may cause irreparable damage.

* Diamond jewelry must be individually wrapped and stored in proper
jewelry cases.

Ways of Cleaning your Jewelry:
* The safest and simplest way of cleaning your jewelry is by mixing a tad
bit of liquid soap with warm water in a plastic bowl and then dipping the
jewelry piece right in it. Massaging and gently scrubbing the piece with a
toothbrush would be a good idea, as well.

* Jewelry that is not very dirty can get away with a simple cleaning
routine. Just rinsing the jewelry in clean water, following it up with a drying
process using a soft towel should do the job. One could also leave the rinsed
jewelry to dry overnight on a towel in a safe place.

* When it comes to diamond, ammonia solution is the need of the hour.
This is also an excellent option for cleaning jewelry that has sapphires and
rubies on it. Pearls, emeralds and opals should however be handled with more
care. Jewelry stores usually use special chemicals and techniques to clean
these kinds of stones as they are most vulnerable to damage.

* Jewelry professionals resort to spraying Windex on diamond jewelry
pieces. They then use a soft jewelry cloth to polish the diamonds. This is a
very effective method of cleaning diamond jewelry.

* To remove deeply set grease or dirt on the backs of stones one can use
warm soapy water and an old toothbrush. Using a lint-free cloth post the rinse
will dry it in a jiffy.

As tradition has it, jewelry has been passed across generations. For those of
you who love and own jewelry for its beauty value, remember to keep it clean to
enhance its beauty. And for those of you, who look at jewelry as a medium of
investment, remember that keeping it clean and having a jeweler check it
periodically will only increase its value over time.
