If you search for methods to get your websites onto the front page of Google,
you will find lterally millions of pages advocating everygthing from hiring
high priced SEO firms to highly technical reworking of your website code. The
truth of the matter is quite a bit simpler.

Getting your websites on the first page of Google is a simple matter of having
a sufficient number of backlinks pointing back to your website with the
keywords you want to rank for anchoring them. And if you can get backlinks
from websites with high pagerank, all the better. These high pagerank
backlinks will frequently count much for much more than ten backlinks with
little or no pagerank.

It really isn't necessary to know the exact formula that Google uses to
calculate this. You can find out if the backlinks you have posted are
sufficient to the task by simply running a search for your keyword on Google.
Be sure that you do this through a proxy though, or the fact that you probably
regularly visit your own site will skew the results. There are great plugins
for Firefox that can make this practice quite easy. I use PhZilla and find it
quite effective. You can also use any of the good position checking sevices
onlie to learn where your sites rank on Google. Just run a search for "Google
Position Checker" and you will find several good ones. Occasionally you will
get an error message saying "Google Block - Try Later" . Just wait a bit and
run your check again. This is a normal glitch that will go away.

The methods for getting these high pr backlinks are really quite simple. The
most effective of these is article marketing. Posting your articles to
hundreds of article directories has never been easier or more affordable.
There are numerous services and software titles available to assist you in
getting these all important high pagerank backlinks.

Another great place to post your backlinks is in the provile section of web 2.0
communities. Everybody is aware of Facebook and MySpace, but there are
literally thousands of more niche specific Web 2.0 Communities where you can
post your backlinks anchored with you choice of keywords. You will usually be
posting these in a profile section titled something like "About Me" or "Bio".
Be sure to check if the site also allows you to post articles or to make blog
posts, as these are great places to pick up not just additional backilnks but
also additional traffic from the people that read the articles and posts.

If you post what seems to you like a huge number of backlinks but don't see an
immediate rise in your Google rankings, don't be discouraged. Sometimes it
takes a few days for Google's spiders to find all of your new backlinks, and
sometimes you just need to post a few more to see huge improvement. The
important thing is to keep posting them. If you haven't gotten the position
you want on Google for your keywords, then post some more backlinks. Remember
that high pagerank backlinks will count for more than backlinks with little or
no pagerank, but in the end the site with the most backlinks anchored with that
keyword will get that top Google spot.
