Let’s make it understood in soccer drills, the importance of
teaching good game skills and playing techniques to develop
young players as these pave the way to making the champs of
tomorrow. These players will go on to have a positive impact on
the game as senior players.

It’s your duty as a coach to make them clear the goals that need
to be accomplished after their training on the basic drills has been
completed.

Most coaches fail to convey this message in soccer training to their
players that there is much more to simply kicking the ball into the
goal to become a great soccer player.

Let’s chat about some soccer drills which will allow your players to
move up the ladder of success in the game in addition to
supplementing it with a touch of enthusiasm.

1. The first and the foremost drills is the passing drills which is also
the chief drill of all. Herein, there are two cones placed down about
10 yards away from one another. Then, following each cone, 5
players are lined up. Now one player from any of the rows will
begin with passing the ball to another player in the opposite row.

2. Following this first pass, they will then run in the outer region of
the cones. Then they would go back to the very same line to which
they had previously passed the ball. Continue to do this until all
your players get an opportunity to pass the ball at least a few
times.

3. In your soccer practice, when you've started carrying out this
drill, initially allow your players at least two touches each on the
ball. Teach the players to use first and second touch to hold the
ball and organize it for a pass respectively.

4. Do not forget the chief aspect of keeping the ball close to the
player’s body after the first touch. The players must have been
taught this as one of the first soccer exercises to develop the
player's ability to keep control of the ball. The second touch will be
used to pass the ball to the opposite line.

5. It goes a long way in teaching the young players to kick the ball
using the inner side of their foot while they are still practicing to
correctly pass the ball. This will help them make a smooth pass to
the player in the opposite line.

6. You can advance to the next stage of the drill which requires the
players to use only one touch. As such, it requires the players to
pass on the ball to another player right away, the moment he gets
the possession of the ball.

Make no mistake about it that the players have to be very quick in
moving towards the other line because it is a very fast paced drill.
