Soccer Field Diagram - Discover 4 Different Positions

Article Description:
I am shocked to see that coaches do not use a soccer field
diagram to teach the kids various soccer formations. Or when they
do, they fail to impress upon the kids the importance of 4 very
crucial positions. These are Forwards, Midfielders, Defenders, and
Goalie/goalkeeper. Let's discuss these individually.

It's really upsetting to know that no soccer field diagram is used by
coaches for teaching various soccer formations. Or when they do,
they fail to impress upon the kids the importance of 4 very crucial
positions. These are Forwards, Midfielders, Defenders, and
Goalie/goalkeeper. Let's individually talk about these.

Forwards: These are the players who place themselves by the
opponent's goal. Their job is to translate passes into goals made
to them by other players in various positions. As these players
make the majority of efforts to shoot goals, they've got to be very
sturdy. This talent is the most important even if their other abilities
are only reasonably good.

Nevertheless, let it be evident that other players shall continue to
progress from one position to a new position. Strikers are those
forward players who play in the middle and when they play near
the touch lines, they are called wings. Nevertheless, in line with
their key responsibility as forwards, they ought to have sturdy built
and great shooting toes.

Mid-fielders: It's apparent from their name that these players play
in the middle of the field. Their responsibility is to catch hold of the
ball, and pass it to the forward players thus enabling them to
score goals. They are generally 5 to 6 in number. In the soccer field
diagram, clearly identify their position.

The concentration of the coach should be on improving the tackling
and dribbling skills of the players. This is really helpful in snatching
the ball from the opponents and attacking the opposition. In
addition, they should be good at passing the ball. These are highly
strategic soccer positions on the field diagram.

Defenders: These are players who save the attacks on their goals
and hence the name defenders. As you can see, their position is
vital. They are about 3 to 5 in number and remain close to the goal
to protect it.

In addition, their task is also to take the ball from the goalie and
pass it to the players. An ability that is important to them is to kick
the ball high to midfielders and so the coach must focus on this
skill.

Goalie: This is the person who takes all attacks onto himself and
saves the goals. When other players are not able to stop the
attack, the goalie must use all his skills to avert the goal.

Because the goalie can use his hands and the only one in the team
allowed to do this, the coach should invent special soccer tactics,
drills and exercises to make the most of it.

Now that you have this information handy, create a soccer field
diagram and help your players understand it. This will help them in
appreciating the importance and requirements of every position.
