Spanish is the second largest used language in the world. Most people these
days are have understood the benefits of having to speak Spanish. Having a
second language is an advantage on your part. There are various institutions
that have studied and established the link of cognitive and personal
development in learning a second language. Studies have prevailed that learning
a second language can delay dementia on elders.

Most parents have thought that having their children learn a second language
would make the children confused. But studies have shown that children who are
learning a second language would develop stronger minds.

Cornell Language Acquisition Lab's (CLAL) have firmly assured everyone that
there are no negative effects on a child who is learning a second language.
Children who are bilingual are more attentive and focused compare with
monolingual children. Ellen Bialystok have studied a four year old chills and a
five year old child who are bilingual who have showed better understanding of
symbolic representation in print than a monolingual child. Younger children are
more likely to learn faster and acquire a second language considering their
age. They tend to learn faster compared with adults.

The College Entrance Examination Board prevails that teenagers who have
knowledge of foreign language have shown higher mean scores for their college
applications. Those who have knowledge of four or more years of another
language get higher scores on the verbal section of the Scholastic Aptitude
Test (S.A.T.). Children developed better listening skills considering it is
very essential when learning how to pronounce the language properly.

It is best to consult an expert before you start teaching your child a second
language. Spanish can be taught at home in a simple manner but with close
monitoring from a teacher especially when the child is already going to school.
Teachers can provide guidelines on how to teach your child properly. They can
even provide you important tools and materials where you can use for your
children's advantage.
Read them the books constantly. It would be better if the books you read to
them are associated with pictures where they could easily understand. You can
read English and Spanish stories to your child in an alternative manner every
night.

Children easily get bored in learning a second language. So make the whole
learning process more fun and enjoyable. You can have games especially when it
comes to translating some important words that are very basic. Give the
learning process more life and spirit that makes your child enthusiastic all
the time.

Your child will be more sensitive to other cultures when they get to learn
Spanish. Start by introducing to them some Spanish music and dances that would
make them love the language even more. You can make a Spanish meal for them at
home or you can take them out on a Spanish restaurant that would draw them more
to learn Spanish.
